AS YOU MAY HAVE ALREADY HEARD, THE USPS HAS ASKED THE 3 MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATIONS TO OPEN UP THE PAY AGREEMENT FOR 2007-2010 TO BE RE-NEGOTIATED. THE 3 SAID "NO WAY". IT IS ILLEGAL TO DO SO. USPS NOT VERY HAPPY. THEY TRIED TO DIVIDE THE 3 ASSOCIATIONS AT ONE OF THERE MEETINGS. IT BACKFIRED. USPS TRIED TO GET THE ASSOCIATIONS TO SUSPEND OR GIVE BACK CONVENTION LEAVE. THE 3 SAID "NO WAY" AGAIN. USPS HQ IS APPROX. 160 POSITIONS OVER SPLY. THE CUTS NEED TO START AT THE TOP. CRAFT UNIONS ARE CHANGING SOME WORK RULES. THAT'S IT. POSTMASTERS HAVE NO MORE TO GIVE. THAT IS THE MESSAGE THAT THE ASSOCIATIONS ARE CONVEYING TO USPS HQ. I RECEIVED INFO FROM NAPUS HQ THAT NEW MEMBER REGISTRATIONS ARE UP SIGNIFICANTLY. EXCELLENT. WE STAND TOGETHER AND WE SUCCEED. GET THE WORD OUT TO MEMBERS TO CHECK OUT THIS WEB PAGE. I WILL BE UPDATING IT AS INFO BECOMES AVAILABLE.

Thank you Bob for keeping us up to date with these issues! An email went around on the usps site regarding our pay. A postmaster stated that he would give up his increase for the good of the company. I think many of us would do so to keep the company solid... if all the unions of all the crafts would follow suit. Expecting Postmasters to work more for less while giving raises to everyone else is wrong!
